Puja-Fantastic Voyage at Paliku Theater on Sunday, 6.5.11

A heavy rain storm hit Kaneohe during the Saturday evening performance which shut down the electricity thus the show had to end early. All was not lost, though. Willow Chang's Puja-Fantastic Voyage sailed with flying colors on Sunday's show.

Afro-Cuban dance Royland Lobato and Richard Marquez on percussion on 4.30.11

I had a blast learning Afro-Cuban dance from visiting instructor Royland Lobato from the Bay Area. Richard Marquez and crew were non-stop jamming to the percussion beat.

Descarga Moderna - Modern Day Cuban Jam Session at Ward's Rafters on 2.5.11

I heard about Ward's Rafters but never been there until last Saturday. It was so cool listening to master drummer Richard Marquez, Jason Gaye on sax and Ethan Capone on piano. These cool cats jammed to some Latin jazz, and Afro-Cuban rhythms/vocals. You could not help but get into the groove...

Live from the Lawn at Hawaii State Art Museum on 2.4.11

Willow Chang was doing double duty singing American Standards on the Lanai Stage (with Tommy Chun) then bellydancing on the lawn. Bellydancer Meissoun from Switzerland also highlighted the lawn with her dance.

Starr Kalahiki belted soul classics like 'Been So Long' and 'Anyone Had a Heart'. She was accompanied with Kit Ebersbach on keys, Jon Hawes on bass, and Stew Sherman on drums.

The last image is of this couple who were dancing like the other little kids dancing...not caring who or what they looked like...embraced in the moment.
